Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

My office is located in central Boulder, near Spruce and Folsom. I am accepting new clients at this time. You can find the address and parking directions on my Contact page.

How much does a session cost?

Individuals are seen for $140 per 50-minute session, and couples are seen for $160 per 80-minute session. I have a flew slots reserved for adjusted fee clients, who cannot afford my full rate. These are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on my availability. Please do not let financial considerations stop you from reaching out. I can always send lower-cost referrals to you, should you need it.

Do you take insurance?

At this time I do not accept insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. Many private insurance companies (United, Cigna, Anthem, etc.) will reimburse you for mental health treatment if you provide a Superbill to them, which I am happy to write up and provide to you. Please call the phone number on your insurance card to confirm this is an option before beginning treatment, if you would like to be eligible for reimbursement. I cannot guarantee you will be reimbursed. Some good questions to ask:

  1. What is my deductible and has it been met?

  2. How many sessions per calendar year do you cover?

  3. What is the reimbursement rate for out of network providers?

  4. Do you need approval from a primary care physician?

How do I pay?

I use a secure, online-based payment system developed specifically for therapists. This means that I never have to handle your card, instead you can enter your payment information through their HIPAA-compliant program, which they store for future sessions. This can be used for credit, debit, FSA, and HSA cards. I also accept cash and personal checks.

Can I cancel a session?

Yes! Life happens, and I understand that there are some things that come before therapy. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, meaning if you give me at least 24 hours notice when you will not be attending, you will not be charged. However, if you cancel with less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time, you will be charged in full for the session.

What if I can’t get to my session due to the weather?

We see some rapid swings in weather here in Boulder! I find it makes the most sense to follow Boulder Valley School District’s decision making - if they cancel school programming, I will be closed as well, and you will not be charged for a weather-cancel when BVSD is closed; I will reach out to you if this occurs to reschedule. However, if the schools are open and you cannot make it to your appointment, please contact me; we will discuss rescheduling in order to avoid a late-cancel fee.

What will my first session look like?

Your first session is what we call an intake. During this session, we will go over some paperwork, and identify what brought you into counseling and what you hope to accomplish in our time together. This first session involves a lot of direct questions from me in order to gather information to ensure I am treating you best based on your needs and experiences. This session often feels somewhat impersonal as there are so many questions being asked. Please keep in mind this is not the norm, and future sessions will be more collaborative and personal, what you think of when you think counseling. And of course, ask questions as you have them, too!

Do you do Telehealth?

Telehealth, or online healthcare, can be a viable option for those who have limited access to transportation or have a tight schedule. These clients will be taken on a case-by-case basis. Please let me know when you reach out if this is something you’re interested in! I have worked in the past with clients over the phone or through online video chat software. Please note the fee is the same for these sessions, and not an option for couples sessions.
